For more than a decade, Spanish-born Juan L. Sánchez has thrilled audiences of all ages with a unique performing style full of warmth and humor that stresses audience participation and focusses on themes such as multicultural celebration, peace-building, respect and self-esteem. In Juan's shows, which are presented in Spanish, English, or both, one can hear original compositions, children's songs from around the world sang in their original languages, as well as wonderful storytelling. Juan has an extensive background in education: he worked as an elementary school teacher and mentor for 7 years, taught Spanish at UCLA for 2 years and is currently a lecturer at CSU Monterey Bay's Service Learning and Music and Performing Arts Institutes, working on social justice issues as they intersect with the arts and education. He has performed in schools, libraries,
cultural centers, festivals, professional conferences, universities and
in radio and television. |
